Welcome
Welcome to the official website of Canada Foundation for Nepal (CFFN, formerly Canada Forum for Nepal), an organization aspiring to bring the reach of education to the margins of society and to distant geographies in Nepal. Our conviction is that knowledge and education are the most profound requirements for building a just and prosperous society.
We at CFFN are working towards promoting critical thinking and enhancing scholarly exchanges between Nepal, and all interested parties from Canada and abroad, and incubate research and development with an objective of improving rural education and livelihood. We strive to provide individuals of all ages, talents and abilities the opportunities to contribute in worthy endeavors that benefit Nepal, Canada, and the global community. Our programs stem from awareness towards the needs of individuals, families, nations, and the world as a whole. We invite you to be part of the Foundation and get involved in its activities.

CFFN is supporting NRNA and NRN Skills, Knowledge and Innovation Task Force to organize a workshop on "Open and Distance Education in Nepal" on Friday, May 28, the first day of the NRN Fourth Regional Conference to be held on 28-30, 2010 in Houston, Texas. You are cordially invited to come to Houston and provide your inputs in developing the blueprint for an Open University of Nepal.
Open University of Nepal Initiative
"To the margins of society, through the efforts of NRNs"
CFFN has joined hand with NRNA in an initiative to help Nepal establish its own Open University (OpenU) to break the barriers to quality education in Nepal, especially for the rural, remote, and marginalized populations. Inspired educationists and the Ministry of Education in Nepal wanted to establish OpenU for a number of years. The initiative gathered a momentum in recent times after CFFN teamed up with NRNA to mobilize non-resident Nepali (NRN) talents for the cause. This initiative is inspired by a dream of bringing quality education to the margenalized people of Nepal at an affordable cost through the knowledge contributions of NRNs and friends of Nepal living around the world. We hope to accomplish this through the efforts and contributions of people like you. Go to OpenU website by clicking here.
Project: 4c (Community Child-Care Centers)
"Bringing the Light of Education to the Margins of Society"
Based on decades of real life experiences of educators and educationists, CFFN has launched a new project 4c (pronounced as foresee)in May 2009. This project develops community owned and operated child care and early childhood education centers. 4c free-up time of mothers with small children, and, therefore, empowers them to further their livelihood. It helps older children so instead of looking after younger siblings they could attend schools. We hope to improve the educational attainment of the children and livelihood of the rural people at the same time. We are in the process of developing web-site specially dedicated to this project. In the meantime, you may learn more about the project by reading the brochure. Please click here to download a PDF version of 4c Brochure.
Project: Radio CFFN
From the voice of youth, grows wisdom and truth!
Yuba Sanchar is a youth radio program dedicated to advancing knowledge and wisdom for building a better world. Through this project inspired youth of Canada and Nepal work together to build collective knowledge and understanding. This page is your portal to programs that entertain you and educate you about the concerns of today's youth. We hope to extend our work to Nepal with a mission to use the radio as a platform for rural people to develop and disseminate knowledge, information, education, and entertainment in the community.

Project: Usha
"Bringing the Light of Education to the Margins of Society"
Learning from its "Project: Rural Education Nepal", CFFN launched a new project Usha in June 2009. This project is geared to develop educational content to bring high quality education to public schools of rural Nepal where there is little prospect for taking modern industrial science and engineering in the near term. Our aim is to use the nature, agriculture, technology, human dynamics and philosophy as found, seen and practiced in the local settings as the laboratories for learning. We are currently dedicating the resources of this project to Open University initiative with a view that this project will gain momentum with the success of tje latter. In the meantime, you may learn more about the project by reading the brochure. Please click here to download a PDF version of Usha Brochure.
Suggesting Ideas for Constitution
Nepal has is formulating a new constitution through a 601 member constitution assembly (CA), where diverse views are contending for their supremacy. We have attempted to contribute to that national debate by compiling suggestions for the new constitution. Listed here are suggestions received through NRN-Canada and Canada Forum for Nepal(CFFN) in response to the circular of Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA). Please click here to read those suggestions.
